Journal Entry No. 4
 

Receiving the artist name Horiyume was one of the greatest honors of my career, but to me it represents far more than recognition. It represents responsibility.
 

A traditional name is not something that is earned overnight. It carries the trust of a teacher, the weight of a lineage, and the expectation that the traditions of Japanese tattooing will be respected and preserved.
 

Every time I introduce myself as Horiyume, I remind myself that I am a student before I am a teacher. There is always another lesson to learn, another composition to refine, and another opportunity to deepen my understanding of Authentic Japanese Irezumi.

That responsibility extends beyond creating beautiful tattoos. It means educating collectors, honoring the culture that gave birth to this art form, and approaching every project with humility and purpose.
 

I want every tattoo I create to reflect thoughtful design, respect for traditional symbolism, and a composition that complements the body for a lifetime. My hope is that each collector leaves not only with exceptional artwork but also with a deeper appreciation for the tradition behind it.
 

The name Horiyume reminds me that my journey is ongoing. Every drawing, every tattoo, every conversation, and every trip to continue learning is another step along that path.
 

I will always strive to preserve tradition, honor culture, and create work worthy of the name I have been entrusted to carry.
